Does Being Rational Require Being Ideally Rational? ‘Rational’ as a Relative and an Absolute Term

چکیده
A number of formal epistemologists have argued that perfect rationality requires probabilistic coherence, a requirement they often claim applies only to ideal agents. However, in “Rationality as an Absolute Concept,” Roy Sorensen contends ‘rational’ is absolute term. Just Peter Unger being flat surface be completely free bumps and blemishes, claims rational perfectly rational. When we combine these two views, though, lead counterintuitive results. If rational, the probabilistically coherent are then this indicts all ordinary agents irrational. In paper, I will attempt resolve conflict by arguing partly correct. One important sense ‘rational’, sanctioning term, but another which someone can capacities, not. will, then, show distinction has consequences for theorizing about rationality, developing account relationship between rationality. Because absolute, it rationally required adopt most attitude available, change depending on whether dealing with or people more like ourselves.

Being and Acting Rational
I usually prefer to deal with rational people. In the vernacular, being rational means being reasonable — that is, using reason when making decisions, taking actions, and achieving goals. Rational people tend to be more predictable and, therefore, understandable. Understanding a decision makes it easier for me to accept it. When I encounter and interact with agents on the Web, or when my own ag...
متن کاملBeing Rational through Fallacies
In this paper we will try to describe the close relation between logical fallacies and abduction considered as inference to the best explanation. To this aim we will exploit the so-called agent-based reasoning framework, which adopts the perspective of a cognitive agent. Then we will analyze some types of reasoning that in the perspective of classical and informal logic are defined fallacies. W...

It seems easy to accept that rationality involves many features that cannot be summarized in terms of some straightforward formula, such as binary consistency. However, this recognition does not immediately lead to alternative characterizations that might be regarded as satisfactory, even though the inadequacies of the traditional assumptions of rational behavior standard used in economic theo...

متن کاملSTUDYING THE BEHAVIOR OF SOLUTIONS OF A SECOND-ORDER RATIONAL DIFFERENCE EQUATION AND A RATIONAL SYSTEM
In this paper we investigate the behavior of solutions, stable and unstable of the solutions a second-order rational difference equation. Also we will discuss about the behavior of solutions a the rational system, we show these solutions may be stable or unstable.
